What goes hand in hand with empanadas?
The little Latin American “bread envelope” goes well with many different flavors. It could be for dinner, lunch, or as a little snack. We have put together some inspiration for you with some of our favorite sides and dips.
Lime!
First and foremost a plate with some lime. Part your empanada in the middle and squeeze some lime juice on it. Lime is added to almost every dish in Latin America.
Dips!
Yummy, we love dip! We have put together our favorites and the ones that go best with our empanadas.
A Simple Salad
Many salads go very well with empanadas. We have two recommendations for you here:
A Tomato Salad
This recipe is very easy, and if you have traveled in Latin America you will almost certainly recognize it. You mix finely chopped tomatoes, red onions, chili (perhaps habanero), cilantro, a bit of salt and pepper, and a lot of fresh lime juice. You decide how much of each ingredient you like – especially when it comes to chili and cilantro.
A Corn Salad
A corn salad adds a crispy element to your empanadas. You can mix corn, finely chopped bell peppers, red onions, lime, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Very simple but very tasty!
The Tapas Plate
Empanadas are a perfect fit on the tapas plate! If you have a big plate full of deliciousness such as stuffed olives with almonds, manchego cheese, goat cheese, thin slices of serrano ham, toasted bread with olive oil, little stuffed bell peppers – we could go on for a while! But on this big plate empanadas fit perfectly.
